The story

What actually happened.

Two of our portfolio companies now hire off the back of this show. That's not a marketing outcome — that's operational leverage.

Managing Partner, Atrium & Co.

Atrium & Co. is a mid-market private-equity firm operating out of the heart of London, and when the managing partner asked us to build them a podcast, everyone in the room knew what that phrase usually produces — a vanity project that runs six episodes, buries itself somewhere between number 400 and number 800 in the Business chart, and gets quietly retired. Echo & Ember runs one of the UK's more considered podcast production and distribution practices, and we accepted the brief on one condition: the show could not be about the partners. Founder-led podcasts fail because the founder is the only guest anyone remembers. Atrium's partners had genuine operating insight but no interest in being the personality on the poster, and the firm's brand equity was tied up in the quality of its portfolio, not the charisma of any one dealmaker. So we built the show around the operators, not the investors. Every episode paired an Atrium partner with a portfolio-company operator solving one specific, named problem — a pricing model that stopped working, a US expansion that stalled, hiring a first CFO after twelve years without one. Forty-minute conversations. No filler. Full production: bespoke sound design, motion-graphic quote pulls cut for YouTube and LinkedIn, and a distribution plan across Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube that treated each channel as a distinct audience. Eight weeks after launch, the show entered the UK Business podcast top 25 — a chart position most PE-firm shows never reach — and stayed there. Two portfolio companies closed subsequent hiring rounds citing the podcast as the discovery source. Atrium's own inbound deal flow rose 22% year over year, with the podcast repeatedly named unprompted in intake calls as the reason the introduction happened. This is what podcast production and distribution looks like when a London video studio treats a founder-led show as a business asset, not a hobby.

01The challenge

Founder-led podcasts fail because the founder is the only guest anyone remembers. Atrium's managing partner had insight but no interest in being the show. The brief: build authority for the firm without building a personality cult around one person.

02Our approach

We designed the show around the firm's portfolio operators, not the partners. Each episode paired an Atrium partner with a portfolio-company operator solving a specific problem — pricing changes, US expansion, hiring first CFO. Full production: sound design, motion-graphic quote pulls, distribution across Spotify, Apple, and YouTube. 40-minute conversations, no filler.
